Educating communities on child abuse prevention and building awareness of the extent of the problem – as well as solutions to it – is a big part of what PFSA does. We are a statewide leader in child abuse prevention programs and offer two kinds of programs:
Community Awareness and Prevention Programs
Community awareness and prevention programs educate ordinary citizens in how they can help to protect children and prevent child abuse. Local organizations often sponsor awareness events, and we support their efforts with technical assistance and materials. Our community-based program is called The Front Porch Project®.
Child Abuse Prevention Events
Child Abuse Prevention events help to keep the issue of child abuse, and the importance of prevention, in the forefront of our society’s consciousness. We especially highlight Child Abuse Prevention Month, a national observation held each April. PFSA takes the lead in promoting special events that highlight prevention and positive parenting.
